December 2023

Beneficiary: Municipality of Ajka, Főnix Leánya Real Estate Development Limited Liability Company The Municipality of Ajka, in a consortium partnership with Főnix Leánya Real Estate Development Limited Liability Company, submitted an application in response to the call for proposals titled and titled “Development of the Ajka Economy,” with identification number TOP_PLUSZ-1.1.1-21-VE1-2022-00008, has been awarded a non-repayable European Union grant of 846.5 million HUF.

This project, funded by a non-repayable EU grant of 846.5 million forints, will implement Phase III of the Ajka Industrial Park development in 8400 Ajka, as a continuation of Phase II, which was carried out within the framework of the TOP program on the site of the Ajka Industrial Park.

The Főnix Industrial Park in Ajka is one of the largest industrial parks in Veszprém County and plays a key role in strengthening the Székesfehérvár–Várpalota–Veszprém–Ajka industrial and innovation corridor. The development of the industrial park helps to strengthen research and innovation potential, foster the growth of high-value-added sectors, and expand employment in the Várpalota and Ajka regions.

The application was submitted by a consortium. The consortium is led by the Municipality of Ajka, and the consortium partner is Főnix Leánya Kft.

The main objective of the project is to develop the industrial park’s land. This involves completing the road network on the western side of the industrial park—a project initiated by previous developments—and providing the associated infrastructure. This will improve access to the properties. The main activities are complemented by equipment purchases and the development of information and communication technology.

As a result of this development, the completed project provides stable employment opportunities for the residents of the city and the region, ensuring integrated and sustainable regional development across the municipalities. In developing the industrial park, we prioritize climate protection, energy efficiency, and the reduction of harmful emissions. In this way, we ensure continuous adaptation to the effects of climate change.

The project is being implemented under the Széchenyi Plan Plus program. Funding is provided through co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund and the Hungarian national budget.

The project will begin on December 1, 2023.

The deadline for the physical completion of the project is October 30, 2026.

Project description:

The project will be implemented as a consortium. The consortium is led by the Municipality of Ajka, with Főnix Leánya Kft. as the consortium partner.

With this project, we intend to continue the development of the Industrial Park with Phase III, following the previous two phases.

On the western side of the industrial park, the construction of roads and roadbeds (gravel subbase) initiated in the previous phase has been completed. As part of Phase III, which is the objective of this project, the roadbeds will be paved with asphalt (road surface and asphalt pavement will be installed). Public utilities will be installed, including climate-friendly drainage and LED street lighting, as well as gas, electricity, sewer, and water infrastructure to serve the connected properties, at the locations specified in the technical documentation. This includes the installation of street lighting on the municipally owned service road adjacent to Main Road No. 7308.

As part of the project, three large plots were subdivided into several smaller plots; basic infrastructure will be developed along these plots up to the service provider’s endpoint—that is, the consumer’s utility connection point.

In Ajka, the development of the M8 highway and the construction of the associated urban access road/bypass will enable the industrial park to continue to grow, providing a secure employment base for the city’s and the region’s population and ensuring integrated, sustainable regional development among the municipalities.

As part of the optional activities, an outdoor digital totem pole and a smart bench will be installed as part of the procurement of necessary tools and equipment related to the main activity. As part of information and communication technology development, content will also be developed for the digital totem pole.

The main objective of the project is to develop the industrial park’s land. This involves the completion of the road network on the western side of the industrial park—a project initiated by previous developments—and the provision of related infrastructure. This will improve access to the properties.

The project is being implemented under the Széchenyi Plan Plus program. Funding for the project is provided through co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund and the Hungarian national budget.

The detailed design documentation and permits required for the project’s implementation are available. The public procurement process has been successfully concluded, and construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2026.
